This is a very poor laptop, the keyboard often sends multiple strokes, the DVD drive doesn't fit the laptop properly so ejecting requires a bit of jiggling and feels like it is catching on the top of the case, the lcd at the wrong angle will give you a headache because the panel quality is so poor, but being only 4 months old the biggest problem is that the laptop will not run off battery, removing the AC cord is like pulling the power cable from a desktop instant death! The battery appeared to worked for a month properly before dying completely in the last month.
Diagnostic tools report that the battery has worn 59% in 4 months but charge/discharge cycles is 0. So faulty since day 1. I've been using laptops for my entire 15 years in the IT business and have never been let down so much than with this laptop.
Toshiba support is the worst in the business, despite still being under warranty I cannot claim a repair online because the laptop is no longer available.
Save yourself the hassle and avoid like the plague.

Good specifications for the £309 I paid, and quite a fast laptop. Don’t like the keyboard layout though, collects dirt to easy which requires regular cleaning. The keyboard on my old Acer was much better, and I am not liking Windows 8 very much,, but I suppose this can easily be changed.

Its a ok laptop but for when you spend almost £400 I expect the case to be of a better quality, for me personally it feels like a cheap plastic was used.
Also when I go to play a CD the tray does not open easy for me, which you would think should be the simple press of a button.
Apart from that though, the laptop loads fast, everything I need it for works perfectly, so no complaints in the operation of it which is the main thing. I do however think that for the price paid, you could possibly get something better.

I have used this computer for about 6 weeks now.
It boots up very fast, which is nice. But it goes into windows 8,, not so nice.
the computer its self:
The lid seems to be counter intuitive on how you would open it up. the speakers are painfully bad, I have an old cheap asus laptop thats speakers are far superior.
the feel is a little cheap plasticy, i doubt it will last long as I travel to different country\'s all the time and my asus lasted 4 years before bits started to fall off. This I doubt will last 1 year.
for some reason when using the build in mouse, it often (every time) opens a menu on the right side of the screen and something else on the bottom left of the screen (not sure why).
it does stay cool though which is nice.
The battery that should last 4 hours lasts about 2 hours and refuses to charge past 68% (not sure if thats a safety thing to keep the battery life to its maximum.
the arrow keys on the keyboard are a little too small and the enter key not quite large enough.
After 2 days of owning it, the computer did some updates and then it was so slow it was useless, I rolled back and canceled updates so the computer is still fast even though it have security issues.
the screen is quite large and bright and isnt bad to look at. all in all, I would say it was about 3/5. I had expected better and should have spent the extra 10 pounds to get a sony viao (iv had one before and they are built to take a beating).
graphics I would give a solid 4/5, ram 5/5, hard drive 4/5 (shouldnt really be hdd but never mind), build quality 0/5, mouse 0/5, keyboard 2/5, battery life 1/5, general speed 5/5.
