The Last House On The Left was a pretty good watch but I felt the film for me lacked any real suspense throughout, and considering the whole plot of the movie I kind of expected a little bit more from it.
Basically in the movie we have a family who own a holiday house next to a lake out in the wilderness. The parents have one daughter called Emma (Monica Potter), and not so long ago they lost their son Ben.
Emma asks on the first day of arriving if she can go visit her friend Paige, and reluctantly her parents give her the car and allow her.
Emma and Paige come across a young man called Justin in the shop where Paige works, and he wants to buy cigarettes, but Paige is reluctant to sell him any, so he basically tells them that he has weed back at his rented room and he will do them a favour if they do one for him.
The girls end up back at Justin’s room, but unknown to Justin his dad, his dads girlfriend, and his uncle all come back early. This puts everyone in a sticky situation because these people are wanted by the police, and now both girls have seen them and they cant risk letting them go, so they are kidnapped.
Next unfolds a lot of drama where both girls are pretty much fighting to stay alive in the woods. But when the four people end up at Emma’s parents house, the parents have no idea what this group have just done, and vice versa, they have no idea that Emma was their daughter, until later!
That is the basic plot of the movie without giving anything else away.
As I said previously, it was an ok watch with a great plot, so I think it could have been directed better. Also the very ending I found a little over-the-top, and I doubt a highly trained doctor would do what he did, instead of handing someone over to the police.
