Help I’ve Woken Up With A Really Bad Hangover?
There is a bright side to hangovers. The dry-mouthed, head-throbbing, stomach-churning misery they induce is enough is to keep most people from drinking too much for their own good. here’s what you can do to feel better:
- Have a sports drink. One of the worst aspects of dehydration is the loss of important electrolytes, such as potassium and sodium, which causes pain and discomfort. Most sports drinks, such as Powerade and Lucozade Sport, contain potassium, sodium and other electrolytes that are lost in heavy physical activity, or heavy drinking.
- Eat eggs. Eggs contain an amino acid known as cysteine, which helps the body to get rid of toxins. This may be why you find eggs in many traditional hangover cures, including the legendary pick-me-up known as the Prairie Oyster (raw egg, brandy or vodka, olive oil and Worcestershire sauce). But make sure the eggs you consume are cooked.
- Eat honey. Honey has lots of fructose, a sugar that helps to work the alcohol out of your system. It also contains vitamin B, which helps with hangover symptoms.
- Try ibuprofen. Ibuprofen, such as in branded products like Nurofen, is easier on the stomach than aspirin. But be careful: ibuprofen can upset the stomach, so use in moderation and avoid if you have bleeding problems or are taking blood-thinning drugs like warfarin. And there is evidence that ibuprofen and other over-the-counter pain relievers can cause serious side effects if a person consumes more than three drinks a day.

I know from experience 2 ibuprofen would not normally help me so fast, I have to admit that after having the bottle of lucozade and eggs I felt really good after 15 minutes, that was before the ibuprofen even got a chance to start.
Will be stocking up on these things when planned to go out next time :)

The energy drink solution works for me but only if it is a mild hangover. If I have a really bad hangover I find honey and ice-cream mixed with a few mashed bananas works a treat.
Also chicken soup is good for clearing the head
I just had 3 eggs after reading this, and guess what, my hangover is completely gone.
I would never have thought in the past to have eggs, I would’ve actually been sick at the thought, but they really have helped me. Thank you AA++
